Where to Start with Help

The first help you should look at is the basic help that "getting started" provides. While you are learning to use SAP R/3, you may need to check this kind of help from time to time to remind you how to use parts of the SAP R/3 user interface. To use the basic help system, follow these steps:

  1. From the SAP R/3 screen, select Help, Getting Started. SAP R/3 displays a help window, similar to that shown in Figure 5.1. (The Help menu is available from any screen in SAP R/3.)

Figure 5.1. The first basic help window.

    TIP

    Not Quite the Same?

SAP R/3 help got a major facelift for version 4.0, going to a Web-browser style interface, as shown in Figure 5.1. Your help window may be presented in a slightly different style from that presented here.

    TIP

    Two windows

The left pane is the index; the right pane is the Help file.

  2. Use the vertical scrollbar in the right pane to move down until you see a screen like the one shown in Figure 5.2. You can visit this section of Help whenever you need a refresher.

Figure 5.2. SAP explains how you can use the interface.
  3. Click the round button LO to move into the Logistics section of the SAP R/3 help system.

  4. Use the vertical scrollbar in the left pane to move down through the index. You can click any items in the left pane to open the help text in the right pane (see Figure 5.3).
