To understand the examples in this lesson, you will need either a user logon name with authority to create a purchase requisition , or an application area where you have authority to create another document .

An area in SAP such as Purchasing, Human Resources, Plant Maintenance, and so on.

Document

The generic name for a standard business form. Although you may be used to thinking of a document as paper, in this sense it refers to an electronic business transaction record. A purchase order is a document, as are a maintenance request and an invoice.

The example used in this lesson is a purchase requisition, which is typical of many other business documents. If your user name doesn't give you the authority to create a purchase requisition, find out what you do have permission to create and use that document as your example.

CAUTION

Unauthorized Documents

It doesn't do any harm to try to create a document that your user name isn't authorized for. You will, however, get an error message on the status bar.
