After completing this chapter, you will be able to:
Describe how a WCF service runs.
Explain the different ways you can host a WCF service.
Build a Windows Presentation Foundation application and a Windows service that host a WCF service.
Describe the different bindings available for communicating with a WCF service.
Use multiple bindings with a WCF service.
In the previous chapter, you saw how to create a WCF service, and how to deploy a WCF service to IIS and access it from a client application. This chapter describes in more detail how a WCF service works and explains some of the other options you have for hosting a WCF service. In this chapter, you will build and configure host applications that process service requests and control the state of a WCF service. You will also learn more about how bindings work in WCF, and how the WCF runtime uses bindings to implement the nonfunctional features of a service.
