The goal for this activity is to help participants recognize how PMI ‚ s Nine Project Management Knowledge Areas can be used to improve project performance by looking at how they have already successfully used this knowledge.
Handout 11-2: How I Used the Nine Knowledge Areas
PowerPoint slides 8-8 through 8-10 for the one-day workshop
PowerPoint slides 9-10 through 9-19 for the two-day workshop.
approximately 15 minutes
Distribute the handout and ask participants to use the form as a guide for jotting down where they have already used the knowledge areas. Indicate that they may not have used the knowledge in all nine, but that they more than likely have already had experience in a good many of them. Ask for some examples from each of the areas and if having these categories could be helpful in organizing their thoughts about managing projects and about attaining more project management expertise.
Instructions: For each of the nine knowledge areas, look back over your past project experience and if possible pick a ‚“defining moment, ‚½ in which you intuitively used that knowledge extremely well.
