When visiting Premiere for the first time, you encounter a collection of sometimes confusing terms and setup options. In these first steps in editing videos on your computer, my advice is to keep it simple and use the default settings. My one slightly different tack is to recommend single-track editing instead of A/B editing, largely because single-track lends itself to computerized video editing. Using digital video (DV) will greatly simplify the entire Premiere process. If you do need to use analog video ”either legacy from an older consumer camcorder or high-end professional Beta SP video ”you will need a video capture card. You may find that using such cards is not all that intuitive.
