In performing the cost estimate for the consensus profile, it was determined that the amount of time to complete the initial increments was prohibitively long, given the project requirements to deploy functionality every 18 to 24 months. The modernization plan, in this case, was determined to be infeasible but salvagable. The RSS stakeholders were sent back to rethink the consensus profile, given this new information about the cost estimate and schedule. At this point, we have learned what we need to learn from RSS and so end the case study. In the next , and final, chapter, we generalize from our experiences in risk-managed modernization and provide some general recommendations to guide your modernization effort. |
