Summary

This chapter covered those database administrative tasks that are considered routine. These are the tasks that DBAs need to do every day or quite frequently. All these tasks are extremely important, such as monitoring all your instances, monitoring tablespace disk usage, checking for tablespace fragmentation, monitoring/killing sessions, and numerous other tasks. Without TOAD, these routine tasks would be very time-consuming for even the most experienced DBA.

The next chapter covers those database administrative tasks that are considered non-routine (that is, only performed weekly, monthly, and so on).
