This book uses certain conventions to help make the book more readable and helpful:
SQL code listings, SQL statements, and screen messages appear in a special monospace font.
Placeholders (words that are substitutes for what you actually type) appear in monospace italic .
Terms being introduced or defined appear in italics .
Menu selections are separated with a comma. For example, "Select File, Open" means that you pull down the File menu and choose the Open option.
Sometimes a line of SQL code is too long to fit on a single line of this book. When this happens, the line is broken and continued on the next line, preceded by a character.
In addition, this book uses special sidebars that are set apart from the rest of the text. These sidebars include Notes, Tips, Cautions.
