To prepare for this lesson, you will launch Final Cut Pro, open the project for this lesson, and play one of the finished sequences.
1.
In the Dock, click the Final Cut Pro icon.
2.
Choose File > Open, or press Cmd-O.
3.
Choose the Lesson 4 Project file from the FCP5 Book Files > Lessons folder on your hard drive.
4.
Close any other projects that may be open from a previous session by Ctrl-clicking the project name tab in the Browser and choosing Close Tab from the shortcut menu.
NOTE
Final Cut Pro allows you to work with multiple projects open at one time. Closing a project here is just a matter of simplifying what you're looking at in the interface as you move through the lesson.
5.
In the Timeline, click the Canoe Club sequence tab and then the Intro Finished tab to compare the two sequences.
The elements in this project link back to the same set of source media on your hard drive as you used in Lesson 1 and Lesson 3. Only the links back to the media have been duplicated for this lesson, not the media itself.
6.
In the Timeline, Ctrl-click the Intro Finished sequence tab and choose Close Tab from the shortcut menu.
You will work with this sequence later in this lesson.
