Preparing the Project

As a change of pace, in this lesson you will launch Final Cut Express by opening the project file for this lesson.

1.

Navigate to the Lessons folder and double-click the Lesson 15 Project file.

2.

Play the 15-Finished sequence to see what you will create in this lesson.

This is the completed sequence from the appendix lessons "Working with Multiple Tracks" and "Creating Motion Effects." Motion parameters were changed on the dad about jimbo clips to resize and reposition them. By placing those clips on the V2 track, you can see the Jimbo surfing clips beneath them on the V1 track. Then the motion was animated to bring the clip on and off the screen. To recreate this sequence, follow the steps in those lessons.

In this lesson, you will learn how to add titles and other items to a sequence.

3.

Play the 15-Starting sequence to see where you will be starting out in this lesson.

The surfing clips in this sequence do not appear in the Browser, but they link back to the Media > Surfing clips used throughout the book.

4.

If you want to preserve the starting sequence for use at another time, duplicate the 15-Starting sequence in the Browser and name it My Titles.

5.

To make sure you have plenty of Timeline room, choose Window > Arrange > Standard, or press Ctrl-U.
