From the Browser Effects tab, drag a transition directly to an edit point, or select an edit point and choose a transition from the Effects menu.

No. You apply audio and video transitions the same way.

Cmd-C copies a selected transition and Cmd-V pastes the transition to the selected edit point.

Double-click one side or the other of the transition icon.

You can drag the edge of a transition icon, right-click the transition and choose Duration from the shortcut menu, or change the duration in the Transition Editor.
