You can prevent unauthorized access to a PowerPoint file by assigning a password to it. Without the password, nobody can open the file. To assign a password, follow these steps:
Choose Office Prepare Encrypt Document. The Encrypt Document dialog box opens.
Type a password in the Password text box, as shown in Figure 22.8.
Figure 22.8: You can add a password to a presentation file.
Click OK. A Confirm Password dialog box appears.
Retype the same password that you typed in step 2.
Click OK.
When anyone attempts to open the file in the future, a password prompt will appear. They must enter the password and click OK to continue.
To remove a password, returning the document to its original unencrypted status, follow these steps:
Choose Office Prepare Encrypt Document. The Encrypt Document dialog box opens.
Delete the contents of the Password text box.
Click OK.
Note | Another way to assign a password is to choose File Save As, click Tools General, and enter a password in the dialog box that appears. This method is the same as it was in PowerPoint 2003. |
