About the Technical Editors


Kimberly Floss has more than 15 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, with specific focus on relational database technology, including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase. Kimberly has extensive experience performing as a DBA on mainframe, Unix, and Windows-based systems, as well as managing DBA teams supporting multiple database platforms. She also works as an Adjunct Professor, teaching SQL Programming/Database Administration at a community college.

Kimberly specializes in Oracle performance tuning and SQL tuning techniques, and is the author of Oracle SQL Tuning and CBO Internals by Rampant TechPress. She is president of the International Oracle User Group (IOUG), and an active member of the Chicago Oracle User Group and the Midwest Oracle User Group. Kimberly is also a frequent contributor to Oracle Magazine and Select Journal.

Rachel Carmichael has been an Oracle DBA for more than 12 years. She chaired the DBA Special Interest Group for the New York Oracle Users Group, developed the meeting agendas for the group, is both Chauncey and OCP certified, and has presented at various international and national conferences. She coauthored the Oracle Press books Oracle SQL and PL/SQL Annotated Archives, 1999, with Kevin Loney; Oracle DBA 101, 2000, with Marlene Theriault and James Viscusi; 9i Instant Scripts, 2001, with Kevin Loney and Megh Thakhar; and Oracle9i DBA 101, 2002, with Marlene Theriault and James Viscusi.
