Other useful troubleshooting counters include Paging File: % Usage and System: Processor Queue Length. The Paging File: % Usage counter provides the amount of the page file instance in use in percent. The System: Processor Queue Length counter indicates the number of threads in the processor queue. There is a single queue for processor time even on computers with multiple processors. Unlike the disk counters, this counter counts ready threads only, not threads that are running. A sustained processor queue of greater than two threads generally indicates processor congestion. This counter displays the last observed value only; it is not an average. These counters are useful for their ability to monitor typical aspects of a system. Deeper inquiry requires more specific counters within a performance object category. |
