After you have installed the backup hardware, you must apply any drivers and then install any third-party backup software. After this is complete, you can configure jobs using the built-in wizards. Using the Backup Wizard, you can easily select files, directories, entire hard drives, and even the system state. The complement to the Backup Wizard is the Restore Wizard. A feature introduced with Windows Server 2003 is Automated System Recovery (ASR). Using the ASR Wizard, you can create a backup of the system files and an ASR disk that you can use to restore the system in the event of a major system failure. Note You must have a separate backup of the data to restore the system completely. |
