Summary

 < Day Day Up >

This chapter discussed the basics of deploying a single-server ProLiant solution. The key distinction between the Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS) designation and the Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE) designation is that the AIS focuses on the small- to medium-size business, whereas the ASE focuses on the enterprise. Therefore, skills relating to deploying single-server solutions are positioned at the AIS level.

As an AIS, you should be able to deploy a single ProLiant server from the time when the components are pulled out of the box up to the point where the server is placed into production. This chapter provided an overview of the skills, tools, and techniques needed to accomplish this deployment, including the following:

  • Initial server power-on

  • Updating system and option ROMs

  • Server configuration tools and utilities, including RBSU, Inspect Utility, and ORCA.

  • The available deployment methods and how to select the correct method

  • HP SmartStart

  • How to install an operating system.

This chapter concludes Part 4. Part 5 provides key concepts on HP systems management.
