Get familiar with sniffing ”it's too useful not to know. Get some of these tools; they're very, very handy. Check on freshmeat for new sniffers regularly ”sometimes even creepier/more useful sniffers are released. Ettercap, for example, would be pretty cool if it worked. And send a thank you to Dug Song for not breaking the SSH protocol. I suspect he's more than capable, but, thankfully, he's a good guy.
