In this chapter, I discussed some concepts underlying digital images and showed how to acquire, create, process, and convert images to meet a variety of needs. I hope I've been able to show that Linux is a full-featured image-processing platform comparable in power to any other system out there. Okay, not comparable to an SGI Origin 2000, but what do you expect from a PC? It turns out you can expect quite a lot from a PC with open source software!
