Chapter 3: Exercise - Creating a WebFacing Project

A WebFacing project contains information unique to WebFacing, such as the source to be converted. It also follows the formal directory structure of a Web project, and it conforms to the Java 2 platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) Web application standard. Before you can create a Web user interface for the Order Entry application, you need to create a WebFacing project.

The Goal of the Exercise

The goal of this exercise is to practice using the WebFacing project wizard inside the WebSphere Development Studio Client workbench to create a new WebFacing project. You can then use this WebFacing project to facilitate the conversion of your DDS source and to test the generated output.

At the end of the exercise, you should be able to

  • Start the Development Studio Client workbench

  • Start the WebFacing Tool project wizard

  • Step through the project wizard pages

  • Provide the correct input to the project wizard and create the project

  • Browse through the new project
