Analysis

In this exercise, you enhanced the startup of a WebFaced application by adding the capability of passing parameter values to the application. You also learned how to write a servlet and pass a value from a Web page to this servlet, and then invoke the Order Entry Application from this servlet. With this capability, you can invoke any WebFaced application from any other Web application or Web page and also control the authentication behavior and the server environment for the WebFaced application.

Hopefully this little excursion into Java servlet programming will help you expand your original 5250 applications to the Web.

In the next chapter, you will analyze how your DDS fits the WebFacing Tool's capabilities. Proceed to the Chapter 21: Checking Your DDS for WebFacing Support.
