InfoPath form templates contain all the necessary files, for example W3C XML Schema document, XML, XSLT, and script files compressed into a cabinet file that, in InfoPath, is given an .xsn file extension.
Options to save exist in both form-filling mode and in design mode.
In form-filling mode, Save saves an XML file ( .xml file) that includes a processing instruction to access the corresponding form template.
In design mode, Save saves the form template itself (an .xsn file).
In design mode, you can make a form template available for users to fill in forms based on the form template by publishing the form template.
A form template can be published to a shared folder on the network, to a SharePoint site (see Chapter 13, "Using InfoPath with Windows SharePoint Services"), or to a Web server.
When publishing form templates that involve database access, be sure that the database is still accessible.
InfoPath allows forms to be submitted using an InfoPath action or using custom script.
What happens after a form is successfully submitted can be defined by InfoPath (it provides three default options) or it can be scripted by the form designer.
