Python is a very popular dynamic language often categorized as a scripting language. It has a number of dynamic features that make it very attractive in certain problem domains, but these very dynamic features are the ones that cause the most friction with .NET. The intentions with this project were to establish that the Microsoft .NET Framework was capable of supporting the Python language and to suggest ways that Python and .NET could be more tightly integrated in the future. On this basis, the project can be considered a complete success; a working version of the language has been delivered and, as this appendix shows, some real insights into the future possibilities have been gained . There is, however, still significant work required to make Python truly useful on the .NET platform. We look forward to the day when future versions of Python are an excellent choice for many developers working with .NET. |
