Summary

 <  Day Day Up  >

You should now have the knowledge you need to start writing programs that use Swing components. The previous chapters gave you a general understanding of Swing components; this chapter showed you the components and discussed the API they have in common.

As you write programs, you'll probably need to look at the how-to sections for the components and layout managers to use. You're also likely to need the how-to sections for other Swing features, such as icons and data transfer. If you want to continue reading or if you find the how-to sections hard to understand, look at the next two chapters, for general information about using layout managers and writing event listeners. If you need to perform custom painting in your program, also read Chapter 6, Performing Custom Painting (page 129).

If you encounter any problems using Swing components, refer to Solving Common Component Problems (page 735) in the Appendix.
