When Lucetta does a washing (which isn't quite as often as either the Maestro or I would prefer), she does, however, organize it on the line when drying, to make its post-wash-dry distribution easier.
And I feel, all of us, or certainly most of us do attempt
SOME ORGANIZATION OF THE CLOTHESLINES OF OUR LIVES.
Certainly when it come to "Thee Arts" and specifically MUSIC, we do utilize some helpful clothespegs of criteria by which we "air our airs," so to speak. (Colli has just chided me for that rather bad pun but I'm leaving it in, as it makes me chuckle.)
The Clothespegs of the Music of the Past (prior to 1900) were a much simpler lot. See below:
MUSIC PRIOR TO 1900
Clothespeg No. 1 ACCESSIBILITY
Without having a PhD. in Musicology, the average person is able to listen to a Monteverdi opera, a Bach Air on a String (G or D usually) a Mozart piano sonata, a Beethoven symphony, and even (tho' harder) a Brahms intermezzo, and MORE OR LESS KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AND ENJOY IT.
The combination of melody, harmony and rhythm (the three old components of music) in whatever arrangement (e.g. solo violin, piano, orchestra, etc.) is, for the most part, UNDERSTANDABLE BY THE AVERAGE LISTENER so that you can.
