The MPEG DSM-CC is a widely adopted data broadcasting standard delivering a file system in the sky that is equivalent to the network file system. The DSM-CC object carousel extends the DSM-CC data carousel with a standard format for representing a file system directory structure. Each object in the object carousel is either a serialized file or a directory referenced by an IOR. The ATSC extends the DSM-CC object carousel with an IOR to URI mapping and introduces some simplification constraints. The use of a base-URI for each entry in the root directory decouples the URI namespace from the object carousels namespace. This approach enables the decoupling of transport topologies from application namespaces, virtually eliminating ramification of object carousel design constraints up-stream the emission station. |
