Sometimes you have to take an existing package and wrap it in an Autoconf framework. This is called autoconfiscating (54) a package.

This chapter gives an overview of various approach that have been taken when autoconfiscating, explains some important points through examples, and discusses some of potential pitfalls. It is not an exhaustive guide to autoconfiscation, as this process is much more art than it is science.
