Chapter Summary

Group Policy is used in Active Directory environments to centrally manage the users and computers in the enterprise. Policies can be set for an entire organization at the site or domain level, or things can be decentralized by setting policies for each department at the OU level.

Group Policy can be used to make sure that users have the necessary environment, with the tools needed to perform their jobs. Additionally, you can lower the total cost of ownership by controlling the user and computer environments, thereby reducing the level of technical support and user productivity lost because of user error.
