It looks at three levels ”organization, process, and job/performer ”and considers three variables ”goals, design, and management.
Performance Appraisal
- Performance appraisal is a structured process used by managers to provide feedback on an individual's performance to encourage improvement. Performance appraisals also provide information for salary decisions and promotions.
Performance Support Interventions
- Performance support interventions affect the workplace, the work, and the worker through planned change efforts based on knowledge and skills transfer. They can be instructional (when the problem is a result of a lack of knowledge or skill) or non-instructional (to improve individual, group , or team performance; improve processes, products, and services; and guide business plans, deliverables, results, and success measures).
Performance Technology (PT)
-Performance technology analyzes performance problems and their underlying causes and describes exemplary performance and success indicators. PT identifies or designs interventions, implements them, and evaluates the results. It is the systematic process of linking business goals and strategies with the workforce responsible for achieving the goals.
Personal Development Interventions
- Personal development interventions are planned work- related activities that are the employee's personal responsibility.
Individuals assume ownership of their success or failure.
Preventive Maintenance
- Preventive maintenance is a proactive approach to equipment maintenance involving such tactics as oiling and greasing gears and machinery; checking parts for flaws, cracks, chips, and replacing them; calibrating precision tools to make certain they are functioning and within established specifications; aligning vehicles and their parts to make them stable; labeling parts and fixtures; cleaning tar and grease from workstations; and a host of similar tasks .

- Process consulting results in revising processes and often involves reengineering or restructuring an entire organization.

- Reengineering is the radical redesign of processes for the purpose of extensive (not gradual) performance improvements.
Repertory of Behavior Analysis
- Repertory of behavior analysis examines people-oriented factors that cause performance problems related to information (skills and knowledge), instrumentation (individual capacity), and motivation (motivation and expectation).
Restructuring
- Restructuring reorganizes the units or departments, usually resulting in a new organizational chart, new responsibilities, and may involve new reporting relationships.
Retirement Planning
- Retirement planning helps people prepare for financial and legal issues, housing arrangements, and health and wellness following their working years .
Rewards
- Rewards are designed to change and reinforce behavior through techniques such as public recognition, gift certificates, or vacations and travel based on meeting sales quotas.
