Before you can use your email software, you must provide it with information, provided by your system administrator or ISP, to set up your email account. When you start Mozilla email the first time, you see the screen shown in Figure 17-1.

Check Email account. Newsgroups are discussed later in this chapter.

The next screen asks you for your name and email address. The name you enter will be displayed to the recipient whenever you send an email. Your email address is supplied by your ISP, such as janet@ispname.com.

The information requested by the next screen is shown in Figure 17-2.

The information shown in Figure 17-3 is requested.

Enter the information provided by your ISP. The information shown in Figure 17-4 is requested.

Enter a name that is meaningful to you.

When you have finished entering information, a window headed Congratulations! displays, showing all the information you entered. Check it for accuracy. Click Finish to set up your account.

Other email software needs the same information and provides similar procedures for entering the information. Most software automatically runs the procedure to set up an account when you start the email software the first time. If you need to set up another account, you can start the procedure manually from the menu. For instance, in Mozilla, click File. Select New->Account.
