Previewing Actions in Action

As you can imagine, it would be difficult to work in the Flash authoring environment if the actions that you added to frames were continual y sending you to new locations in the Timeline. The default movie-editing mode disables frame actions. To see frame actions at work when you play your movie in the authoring environment, you must enable them via the Enable Simple Frame Actions command.

To enable frame actions:

1. Open the Flash file whose frame actions you want to preview.

2. From the Control menu, choose Enable Simple Frame Actions.

   Flash places a check next to the Enable Simple Frame Actions command in the menu (Figure 12.29). When you play the movie now, Flash follows the instructions in the Script pane.

To disable frame actions:

1. Open the Flash file that has frame actions enabled.

2. From the Control menu, choose the checked Enable Simple Frame Actions.

   Flash removes the check next to the Enable Simple Frame Actions command in the menu to indicate that frame actions are disabled (Figure 12.30). When you play the movie now, Flash ignores any instructions in the Script pane and plays the movie frames sequentially.

Tip

• You can also preview your actions by playing the movie in a test mode. From the Control menu, choose Test Scene or Test Movie. Frame actions are always enabled in these test modes. (For more details about test modes, see Chapter 13.)
