Checklist: Administering FTP Sites

Check off each of the following FTP administration tasks once you have learned how to perform them on a test IIS 6 system:

• Install the FTP service on an IIS machine.

• Configure the home directory of the Default FTP Site as either a local folder or a network share.

• Create physical and virtual directories within the Default FTP Site and access them using the Windows command-line FTP client.

• Create additional FTP sites on your server and assign them unique site identities.

• Configure the directory listing style appropriate for the FTP clients accessing your FTP server.

• Configure FTP banner, welcome, exit, and maximum connections messages.

• Stop, start, pause, and resume FTP sites and save their configuration to an XML file.

• Implement FTP User Isolation to give each user a private home directory.

• Perform a file transfer between two FTP servers from a workstation.
