Exporting a GIF Animation

Once you have your animation the way you want it, you need to export it as an animated GIF file. You want to make sure that the file size is as small as possible, just as you do for the other images on your page. The more frames and colors in your animation, the larger the file size.

Choose Window > Optimize to access the Optimize panel. Choose Animated GIF WebSnap 128 from the Settings pop-up menu. Make any changes to the number of colors or other options on the Optimize panel as you learned in Lesson 8. View the images on the Preview panel to make sure that your color choices appear the way you want. Note If you don't select Animated GIF as the export file format on the Optimize panel, your file is exported as a static GIF file and will not animate. The preset Animated GIF WebSnap 128 option sets this file format for you.

Click the Preview button and then play your movie. When you are satisfied with the settings, choose File > Export to export the file. Select Images Only from the Export options and then click Export.
