Chapter 10: Creating a Professional Web Page Style

Overview

In this chapter, you’ll create a couple of professional-style web pages. By “professional,” I mean web pages companies would feel proud displaying over the World Wide Web.

Creating web pages for companies, no matter what their size, is always tricky. Not only must the design of your site fit the customer’s services and personality, but you must also consider the customer’s clients. You don’t want to create a website that confuses a customer’s clients, especially if those clients don’t use computers often.

Your web design business is beginning to flourish. With all the good work you’ve been doing, your business is getting calls due to word of mouth. Just this morning, a new client called: the Jackson Steel Company. Mr. Jackson III (the owner) isn’t sure what he wants in a website. He just knows that he doesn’t want anything “that flashes too much or has too many bells and whistles.”

“We’re a steel company,” he says over the phone, “not a florist.”

With those words in mind, let’s take a crack at designing a web page for him.
