Into the Great IUnknown

So then, as you can see, we have quite the journey ahead of us. My suggestion is that you begin with Chapter 1 (even if you have a solid C++ background) and pound out the lab work. Many of the subsequent labs in this book revolve around the design notes (but not necessarily the code) of the labs presented in this first chapter.

Finally (and I cannot stress this enough), never be reluctant to access online help (MSDN) as you read this book. Learning COM is a complex, yet manageable, endeavor. As you work over the labs and read this material, realize that no one book can describe every detail of the Component Object Model. The Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) is jam-packed with COM tutorials, sample code, documentation, and technical articles that extend and complement the information presented here. Remember, F1 is your friend.
