A.2 Mailing Lists The Optional Ones

These mailing lists also provide useful information, but I consider them optional either because their information will be funneled into the mandatory ones or because the "signal-to-noise" ratio for information expressly related to security exploits and solutions is not to my liking.

A.2.1 The SSH Mailing List

You may subscribe to the SSH announce mailing list with the following command. This list is intended for users or SysAdmins charged with maintaining SSH. (There is another list "ssh" at the same site for those who want to help with development, or to participate in discussion about improvements, and act as Beta testers.)

 echo 'subscribe ssh-announce' | Mail -s '' majordomo@clinet.fi

A.2.2 The Network World Fusion Mailing List

Network World Fusion sometimes has information on network security that might be of interest. These stories tend to be general but might be helpful when giving overall statistics to management in order to justify a budget for security work. The address is
