Chapter 5. STEP 5: Monitoring and Managing the Server

Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX is shipped with three tools to help monitor and manage load, connections, and applications. These tools are Macromedia Flash-based applications built by Macromedia. For this chapter, you will get familiar with the pre-built applications and integrate them into the development environment. We will use the example built in the previous chapter as our test application.

Tip

Communication Server ships with a Server Management ActionScript Dictionary that describes the application programming interface (API). The API is the foundation to create (or integrate) custom administration modules, or to build on top of the existing Administration Console shipped with the product. As a working example, you can download the source ADMIN.FLA file from Macromedia, but you have to own a registered license of the product before the company will let you have it.
