7.8 Creating an iMovie Page

 <  Day Day Up  >

After you've tried your hand at digital video editing with iMovie, you'll probably want to show it off to your friends and family. Sure, you're not a member of the Coppola family, but who knows , you could be the next Hitchcock, and publishing your iMovie on your .Mac HomePage could get you some exposure.

Earlier in this chapter, in the Section 7.4 section, we mentioned what you needed to do to export your iMovies for use on your .Mac HomePage. Rather than rehash that here, let's just move ahead and create an iMovie page; simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to the .Mac HomePage site (http://www.mac.com/homepage) and click on the iMovie tab.

  2. Select a theme to use; try to choose something that matches the style of your iMovie. For this example, I've chosen the Retro-TV theme, as shown in Figure 7-39.

Figure 7-39. Edit the iMovie theme page.

  3. Click on the Choose button to select the iMovie you want to use. When you click on this button, you are taken to the Movies folder on your iDisk (shown in Figure 7-40), from which you can select the Movie you want to put on display. After you've selected the movie, click on the Choose button to apply the movie to the theme.

  4. Click on the Preview icon in the toolbar and take a look at the page and your movie to make sure that everything appears as it should.

  5. If you're satisfied with how the page looks, click on the Publish icon in the toolbar.

When the page is published, you will see a message similar to the one shown in Figure 7-17. If you've already created the Site Menu page (described earlier), you will need to click on the Return to HomePage button to add the iMovie to your .Mac site's main page. Once there, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the .Mac HomePage site (http://www.mac.com/homepage).

  2. In the Pages column, select the name of your Site Menu page (with me, it's named Home).

  3. Click on the Edit button beneath the Pages column.

  4. Review the page, and if your iMovie page is now showing up, click on the Preview icon to see how the finished page will look.

  5. Click on the Publish button to republish your .Mac site's Site Menu page.

The page for the iMovie is named iMovieTheater # .html , which is stored in the Sites directory of your iDisk.
