When you install Mac OS X or start up a new Mac for the first time, you are given an opportunity to enter the information for your .Mac account or to sign up for an account. If you don't have a .Mac account, or aren't sure of what your username and password are, you can always go back later and take care of these. Apple offers four ways to sign up for a .Mac account:
Once you've signed up for your .Mac membership, you'll need to configure your Mac OS X system to use its services and software. This chapter shows you how to configure your Mac OS X system to work with the .Mac services. The goal of this chapter is to help you get up and running with your .Mac account as soon as possible. Future chapters go into greater detail on using your iDisk, .Mac Mail, and the other applications and services that come as part of your .Mac membership. |
