Sync Contacts and Calendars to iPod

Use iTunes to synchronize your iCal and Address Book information to an iPod. After syncing, the iPod screen shows the categories of "Calendars" and "Contacts" in its main menu. Using the iPod scroll wheel, you can select either category and access your important information while on the go.

1.

Connect an iPod to your computer. iTunes opens (if that preference is set, as shown in the example at the bottom of this page) and shows the iPod in the Source pane (shown below).

2.

An iPod Preferences button appears in the bottom-right corner of the window (circled above). Click the button to open the iPod pane of iTunes Preferences, shown below.

3.

Click the Contacts button to show the Address Book options that are available. Check "Synchronize Address Book contacts" if you want to automatically update the iPod with current Address Book information whenever an iPod is attached.

4.

Choose to "Synchronize all contacts" or to "Synchronize selected groups only."

If you choose to sync selected groups only, checkmark the groups in the list that you want to sync. This list is made up of groups that you previously created in Address Book.

5.

Click OK.

6.

Click the Calendars button to show the iCal options that are available. Select "Synchronize iCal calendars" if you want to automatically update the iPod with current iCal information whenever an iPod is attached.

7.

Choose to "Synchronize all calendars" or to "Synchronize selected calendars only."

If you choose to sync selected calendars only, checkmark the calendars in the list that you want to sync. This list is made up of calendars that you previously created or subscribed to in iCal.
