Create a File-Sharing Page

One of the page types that HomePage can create is a file-sharing page. When you have photos, movies, or any other kind of files that you want to make available to others, you can put them on a file-sharing page; anyone on any computer can go to your file-sharing web page and download your files at their convenience. To limit access to certain people, set a password for the site.

1.

Sign in to the .Mac site with your member name and password. On the .Mac page, click the HomePage link (shown to the left).

2.

You can add a new site for your file-sharing page (click the "Add" button under the "Sites" column), or you can add a page to an existing site (click the "Add" button under the "Pages" column).

3.

When you click the "Add" button, the theme window opens (shown to the left). Click the "File Sharing" tab, then pick a design from the template thumbnails.

4.

Customize the text in the text fields. Then click "Choose file" to select files from your iDisk that you want to make accessible on your file-sharing page. Click the plus button (+) to add additional items to the page. The buttons and controls on the page behave the same as the links shown on page 285.

5.

Click the "Preview" button to check your work, then click "Publish." A "Congratulations" window opens and gives you the web address of the new file-sharing page.

Tip

To upgrade your iDisk storage or to check your .Mac account status, click the "Account" icon on the .Mac web page (circled above).
