Today, there are four storage management architectures, one still very much in development and three in fairly widespread use across IT shops , which can be defined and categorized based on two criteria: (1) the granularity of management they offer ”how well they move you toward capacity utilization efficiency ”and, (2) their cost from the standpoint of storage administration labor and time.
