12.5 Extra Steps

  • Go to a new subdivision in your area and pick up some sample floor plans from the sales office. Practice drawing them on the computer. You don't have to be exact on the dimensions (you'll only get rough dimensions on the plans anyway.)

  • I know it takes a while to define styles for multilines , but now is a good time to establish a policy of never doing anything twice that can be done once and placed in a template (remember templates?). Anything that requires definition should be defined and put into a template to save time later. But does that mean you'll have thousands of templates from which to choose when creating a new drawing? Heavens, no! You should have a handful of templates “ each with a lot of information. (Remember, you can also use the Design Center to milk information from one drawing or template into another!)

Create some new templates that you might use on the job. Include units, grid and snap settings, limits, borders, and multiline definitions. But don't relax “ there'll be more to add to your templates later!
