Lesson 11: Guidelines and Splines

Overview

Following this lesson, you will:

• Know how to draw contour lines with the Spline command

• Be familiar with the Splinedit command

• Know how to create guidelines (or construction lines) using:

  • XLine

  • Ray

Now we're moving into the more advanced aspects of basic AutoCAD. If you're not comfortable with the first two parts of our text (AutoCAD 2004: One Step at a Time “ Part I and Part II), it might be a good idea to spend a couple hours going over the less familiar portions before continuing.

Lesson 11 will familiarize you with AutoCAD's version of guidelines “ a tool missing through the first twelve releases and welcomed by many when it first appeared. We'll also cover the use of the Spline command to draw contour lines “ like those found on topographical maps.
