Chapter 23
In this final chapter, we attempt to squeeze in some ideas that didn't make it into the other chapters but are important topics that we absolutely want to address. The main sections of this chapter are the following:
- "Complex Transactions," in which we talk about transactions that shouldn't be handled by one component only.
- "COM+ and MTS Packaging," in which we demonstrate a possible packaging in COM+ and MTS of the components we've talked about in this book.
- "Revisiting the Stateful Model," in which we make a few comments about how to handle stateful components differently from the stateless ones we've discussed in most of the book.
- "Library Packages and Applications," in which we describe the special types of MTS packages and COM+ applications that contain components that run in their clients' processes rather than in a process for the package or application itself.
- "The Connection String," in which we describe different and better methods of storing the connection string that data access objects should use when they log on to a data source such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- "Newsgroup Services," in which we tell you about the newsgroup we're setting up for peer services for the design and implementation of Microsoft Windows DNA applications. This section also briefly mentions the probable future availability of templates and wizards in support of our architecture.
