1. To increase security of the communications between your front- and back-end Exchange servers, secure communications between them by using IPSec.

2. To increase the security of your front-end servers, disable the following services: Microsoft Exchange Management, Microsoft Exchange MTA stacks, and Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine.
