Who Is Responsible for Further Development of PHP?

The PHP core can be developed by anyone , but some of the main PHP developers are listed in this section:

Rasmus Lerdorf continues to contribute to the development of the PHP core. He has joined the advisory board of the ActiveState Corporation, which created the popular Windows ports of Perl,TCL, and Python and tools for Perl and PHP development, such as the Komodo IDE. Lerdorf is also a member of the Apache Software Foundation Group .

Andi Gutmans is partly responsible for the PHP 3.0 core and the Zend engine (which is a part of PHP 4.0). He is also one of the partners in the Zend Corporation.

Zeev Suraski is partly responsible for the PHP 3.0 core and the Zend engine (which is a part of PHP 4.0). He is also one of the partners in the Zend Corporation. He helped run PHP on web servers such as IIS and databases such as MySQL and Sybase.

Stig Bakken has been a part of PHP development since PHP 2.0/FI and continues to help develop the PHP core in his spare time.

Shane Caraveo has been helping with the development of the PHP core since PHP 2.0/FI. He helped port PHP 2.0/FI and PHP 3.0 to Windows and helped develop PHP to run on Windows web servers such as IIS and PWS.

Jim Winstead is one of the developers responsible for helping develop PHP since PHP 2.0/FI.

Sascha Schumann is a very active member of the PHP development group. He is responsible for several PHP SAPI modules for AOL Server, Apache 2.0,TUX, and HTTPd, to name a few. He also has made improvements to the PHP language, such as thread safety and regex cache.

Sam Ruby is a senior programmer at IBM and is a member of the PHP core group and the Apache Software Foundation group. He has done much work with PHP and Java and is responsible for the Servlet version of PHP. He also has done a lot of work on PHP and the Windows platform, creating the first set of instructions for installing PHP on the Windows platform and creating the .NET PHP module.

Theis C. Arntzen is a member of the PHP core group and is largely responsible for the Oracle PHP modules.

Andrei Zmievski is a member of both the PHP core group and the Apache Software Foundation group. He is responsible for the WDDX, session extension, and Perl-compatible regular-expression modules. He is also one of the folks behind the PHP-GTK project.
