This book uses the following conventions:

Convention	Usage
Italic	New terms being defined. Also, in syntax statements, where you should substitute a value of your own choosing.
Monospace	Commands, syntax, options, and so on, as well as Internet addresses, such as www.a-coda.com .
	A code continuation character is inserted into code when a line shouldn't be broken, but we simply ran out of room on the page and had to continue the code to the next line.
