Specifying Where to Search

Use the Look In box to tell the Assistant where to search. As Figure 11-2 shows, the list includes My Documents, Desktop, all of your local storage media, and all of your mapped network shares. If what you want to search isn't included in this list, you can either type directly into the Look In box or click the Browse item at the bottom of the list.

For example, suppose you want to search Temp, a subfolder of drive D. The D:\Temp folder doesn't appear in the Look In list, so you could simply type D:\Temp into the Look In box. Alternatively, you could open the Look In list, click Browse, and then navigate to D:\Temp in the Browse For Folder dialog box that appears.

By default, Search looks for the disk or folder specified in the Look In box, plus all the subfolders of that disk or folder. If you don't want to search the subfolders:

  1. Click Search Options.
  2. Select the Advanced Options check box.
  3. Clear the Search Subfolders check box.
