Creating a New Document

You can use the New command on the File menu to create a new Imaging document from scratch. When you do this, Imaging displays a dialog box similar to the Page Properties dialog box shown in Figure 37-6. The only difference is that the New Blank Document dialog box adds a File Type tab. Here you can specify whether you want your document to be in the .tif, .jpg, or .bmp format.

Note that while you can use Imaging's annotations tools to build a new document, if the document you're creating consists primarily of graphics objects (lines, boxes, and other shapes), you will probably have an easier time working in Microsoft Paint and then importing the resulting .bmp file into Imaging. Paint's tools are considerably more versatile than Imaging's.
