HyperTerminal is a simple application that lets you connect with bulletin board systems (BBS's) and Telnet sites. Because you probably spend most of your online time using Microsoft Internet Explorer, another Web browser, or proprietary software such as that provided by America Online, you might properly think of HyperTerminal as a bit of a relic—a reminder of the days before the arrival of the Internet. Nevertheless, sometimes you might need to contact a library, a vendor's support bulletin board, or some other service that's not available on the Web. For that eventuality, Microsoft Windows 2000 provides HyperTerminal.
